A goal from Fares Jumaa and a brace from Lucas Pimenta put Al Wahda firmly in the driving seat for a 4-0 deserved victory over Al Bataeh at Ittihad Kalba Stadium before Sebastian Tagliabue added a fourth close to the end.
It took 22 minutes for the visitors to break the deadlock when Jumaa timed his run perfectly to head in Luis Miguel’s cross.
In the 76th minute, Lucas Pimenta cemented his side’s deserved lead when he met Ismaeil Matar’s cross from a corner with a superb diving header into the bottom corner.
Six minutes before the final whistle, Pimenta grabbed his brace when the Brazilian defender towered above Al Bataeh’s goalkeeper to fire a powerful header into the back of the net.
Al Wahda added the fourth goal of the night when Ruben Filipe teed up Tagliabue on the right wing as the latter brilliantly cut inside the penalty area and drilled the ball into the back of the net with a smart finish.
The result means Al Wahda are now in ninth place with 4 points, while Al Bataeh remain sixth with 6 points.
