Al Wahda team suffered a loss against their host, Al Wasl, with a score of 2-1 in the first leg of the semi-finals of the Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank Cup.
Coach Goran relied on the following lineup for Al Wahda: Rashed Ali – Khalid Bati – Alaa Zuhair – Lucas Pimenta – Mohamed Ali – Alan Marquez – Abdullah Hamad – Ahmed Nurallah – Bakheet – Omar Khribin – Facundo Daniel.
During the first half of the match, Al Wasl, accustomed to playing on their home ground and in front of their fans, took an early lead with a goal scored by Sofiane Boutaib in the second minute of the game. Al Wasl continued to dominate the first half and extended their lead through Fabio Lima in the 30th minute, capitalizing on a penalty awarded by the referee after consulting VAR.
At the start of the second half, Al Wahda reorganized their ranks, and coach Goran made several substitutions, including bringing on the new arrival, Erkinov, replacing Omar Khribin. Al Wahda controlled the second half and threatened the opponent’s goal on several occasions. Their efforts paid off when the referee awarded a penalty in the 66th minute, converted successfully by Ahmed Nurallah, narrowing the gap and restoring a significant part of the team’s chances before the second leg.
With this result, Al Wahda will need to win by a margin of one goal or more in the second leg to avoid elimination from the semi-finals of the “Adib Cup” championship.
